Sightseeing in Warsaw

If you want to learn more about the older history, you would be definitely interested in so-called Royal Route. It shows the history of Polish kings and combines of various royal residences. The Route starts at Zamkowy Square, in front of the Royal Castle, goes through Łazienki Królewskie, and ends in Wilanów. What you can see in all these places?
As already mentioned, the Royal Route starts with Zamkowy Square. In the middle of the square there is a the King Sigismund Column. It is the oldest monument in Warsaw , built in 1644. Right next to the square, there is the Royal Castle that had been the royal residence since 1595. Nowadays, it serves as a residence of the Polish president. It hosts the museum where you can see, among others, apartment of Prince Joseph Poniatowski, exhibition presenting the history of the castle or the Numismatic Cabinet. As you walk further journey along the Royal Route, you will have a chance to visit the Lazienki Royal Park and Palace Complex. It is the largest park in Warsaw, that stretches on the area of 76 hectares. It is a great spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. You definitely should see there the Palace on the isle, built in the late seventeenth century.
The Royal Route ends with Wilanow Palace and Park, a 17th century beautiful example of Baroque architecture. The palace served as a summer residence for the king Jan III Sobieski. Nowadays, you can visit there the gallery that hosts an amazing collection of coffin portraits.
